Lakeshore technical college and literacy council begin their 4th year of citizenship classes!
August 12, 2021
Citizenship classes at Lakeshore Technical College Sheboygan Center resume on Wednesday, September 1 from 6:00–7:30 p.m. and Friday, September 3 from 8:30–10:00 a.m. George Palmer teaches on Wednesday evenings and Keith Shearer teaches on Friday mornings.
The book used for this class is called “Citizenship: Passing the Test” by Lynne Weintraub. The Wednesday evening class covers the textbook in one semester, while the Friday morning class takes things a bit slower and completes the book in two semesters. Students will learn:
- Benefits of citizenship & the naturalization process
- Legal qualifications for citizenship, steps for applying, exceptions/waivers
- Detailed information on what applicants need to know
- Strategies for the test/interview
This class is free for students to attend and materials are provided. In the event that a student who has enrolled cannot regularly attend a class, there is a limit to how many absences are allowed and a waitlist to bring in other students who are interested in working towards gaining citizenship. The classes are held in English at the LTC Sheboygan Center, located at 1320 Niagara Avenue in Sheboygan.
