FRC Receives $10,000 Grant from the Kohler Foundation to Support Local Families

The Family Resource Center of Sheboygan County is honored to announce that we have been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Kohler Foundation. This generous support allows us to continue strengthening families, expanding resources, and making a meaningful impact here in Sheboygan County.

This grant award is an investment in the well-being of children, parents, caregivers, and adult learners who rely on the FRC for guidance, education, and connection. We are grateful for the Kohler Foundation’s commitment to fostering education, arts, and community connection, and we look forward to the meaningful impact this partnership will continue to make for local families and learners.

Support Upcoming Family Events

The grant allows us to host a variety of family engagement events free of cost, featuring art, music, science, hands-on learning, and moments of connection. These gatherings reduce isolation, build community, and offer fun, meaningful experiences for families.

We look forward to hosting events in 2026 such as:

  • Mad Science Lab
  • Sensory Bin Creation
  • A bilingual family event

These events give families opportunities to learn together, make memories, and strengthen relationships.

Support Our Volunteer Tutors & Launch a New Initiative

The grant will also help us continue supporting and growing our dedicated volunteer tutor network, which is essential to our adult literacy and English learning programs. Additionally, we will be able to pilot a new initiative — “Conversations on the Go,” a flexible, informal conversation group designed to help adult English learners practice language skills in real-world situations by meeting in different community locations.

Why This Matters

This grant directly strengthens our programs by supporting and empowering families from pregnancy through early childhood, while also expanding our services for adult learners across the community. Because of this funding:

  • More parents will feel confident, informed, and connected
  • More families will access the resources they need to thrive
  • More adult learners will gain confidence and skills that benefit themselves, their families, and their workplaces

The impact of early childhood and family support, combined with new opportunities for adult learners, reaches far beyond individual households. The Kohler Foundation is helping make a stronger, more connected community possible for everyone.
