Our home visitors partner and help families year round, but when COVID struck, they rose to the challenge. They adapted and began virtual visits using telecommunication or video-based visiting as early as the end of March. In May, when they realized some families who were hardest hit, needed a pick-me-up during this difficult time, they purchased, and safely delivered, Activity Bags to approximately 30 families throughout the county. They including chalk, balls, bubbles, books, sanitizer wipes, and handouts of support. What a joy to be able to see some of the families from across the lawn!
As staff continued to complete home visiting virtually, we realized that some families did not have some of the needed supplies in order to complete the developmental screenings we continued to administer. With the help of the United Way COVID Relief Funds Grant, we were able to again purchase supplies, (shown below) and safely deliver them, to aid families in keeping their child’s development on track.
